Ledley King says that Harry Redknapp has earned his shot at the England job, and concedes it is “no surprise” that Tottenham are facing the prospect of losing their manager.

However, the Spurs captain believes that his boss will stay at White Hart Lane until the end of the season – and he is hoping that the 64-year-old will shun his chance to lead the Three Lions and remain in north London permanently.
"He's done a terrific job here. We were bottom of the league when he came here and look at us now," said King. "It's no surprise, but from our view we would love to keep him.
"He hasn't spoken to us, it's not really for us to be asking. But as a group of players we love him and hopefully he will stay.
"It's just the same as having good players in the team. People will always be interested in them I suppose, that’s football.
"There was a lot of speculation about Luka in the summer and we wanted him to stay, but you can't tell anyone what to do. They have to do what feels right for them, and football moves on.
"He [Redknapp] has brought the club on massively. We were bottom when he first came in and the results picked up straight away.
"Right away he showed his people skills and his ability to lift players, even when their confidence was low. He has gone from strength to strength, brought in some good players, experienced players who know what it takes, and it has been really good.
"As players, we need to keep our focus until the end of the season and what will happen in the summer will happen. To be honest I don't read too many papers but I am pretty sure he will be here until the summer."
King is also expecting his own future to be decided at the end of the season, when his contract is due to expire.
"I've left it between my agent and the chairman and I haven't heard anything at the moment," he said.
"For me, it is just about keeping my head down and playing as many games as I can, and at the end of the season we will see where that is."
Redknapp and King's value to Tottenham was highlighted by the 5-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday, and the skipper was delighted with the performance.
"It was a joy to play in," he said. "We looked at the results earlier in the day. The Chelsea one was good for us, and Arsenal managed to get a late wining goal, but it's about taking care of your own business. We needed to make sure that we did our job and we could not have asked for a better display.
"When we're on our day we can do that to teams. We have had quite a few 2-0 leads at half-time and we could have had a few more goals, and this time we did that. The two up front were unplayable in that form."
