An artist has won a nationwide competition and realised a dream seeing her work displayed at one of the borough’s premiere galleries.

Cathy Stocker, who lives in Muswell Hill, is overjoyed to be exhibiting at Lauderdale House in Highgate after making the finals of this year’s Pride In The House competition to promote gay and lesbian artists.
The 45-year-old said: “I have already imagined having my work on display there, I’m fascinated by nature, trees and woods and that fits in perfectly with the environment of Lauderdale House.”
Her paintings include scenes of Finnish fir forests and were inspired by trips to Finland to see Silver Birch trees.
Ms Stocker, who is a proud member of the gay community, also praised the award for giving exposure to gay artists.
“As a female artist it’s sometimes very hard to get work out there,” she said. “There are some excellent artists in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community who are very talented and I’m very proud to be part of that group.”
He work will be showcased at the gallery in Waterlow Park along with two other finalists until July 24.
The overall winner of this year’s Pride In The House, announced tomorrow (Wednesday, July 13), will win a solo exhibition later in the year.
Details have been released this evening of how to get your share of 4,000 tickets to the exclusive Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration at Alexandra Palace in July.
