A Muswell Hill man appeared before magistrates today (Friday) charged with trying to pay a driving instructor £300 to pass his test.
Gaston Hugo Carvajal-Atenas, 56, of Barrenger Road, Muswell Hill, was in the dock at Hendon Magistrates’ Court accused of offering instructor Richard Cwierzona the cash.
Three other men have also been charged with offering between £150 and £500 to Cwierzona as inducements to pass them on their driving tests.
Cwierzona himself, who was employed by the Driving Standards Agency, has also been charged with one count of corruptly soliciting sexual favours, two counts of corruptly soliciting bribes, and one count of having solicited a £1,000 payment while working as an examiner at the DSA Testing Centre in Western Parade, High Barnet.
Cwierzona, 49, of Monks Road, Lincoln, was at Hendon Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday) to face the charges.
All those involved had their cases transferred to Wood Green Crown Court and were granted unconditional bail until their hearings on February 22 and 23.
