Crowds gathered in Harringay to see the area’s first-ever digital Christmas tree switched on.

The 80ft tree, beamed for the first time on December 9, is projected onto the front of The Salisbury pub in Green Lanes, on the corner of Grand Parade and St Ann’s Road, and is the first of its kind in the area.
Councillors Nilgun Canver and Zena Brabazon had the honour of carrying out the official switch-on - a prelude to the weekend’s Green Lanes Winter Festival, funded by Boris Johnson’s Outer London Fund.
The festival, which ran between December 10 and 11 in Mattison Road and the South Harringay Junior School, offered an ice rink, grotto and vintage cinema to around 2,500 people that attended over the weekend.
Rob Chau, of Harringay Traders Association, said: “We have always been a bit ambitious, it’s testament to the community of Green Lanes. We are very tight here, it’s a real community.”
Details have been released this evening of how to get your share of 4,000 tickets to the exclusive Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration at Alexandra Palace in July.
