An artist has captured the devastation of the riots with a series of poignant paintings.

Pete Brown travelled all the way from Bath to Tottenham the day after looters rampaged through the High Road to paint the iconic Carpetright building before it was demolished.
He has since returned to paint other damaged buildings including the site where Paradise Gems once stood at the corner of Dowsett Road.
The 44-year-old said: “It was quite a moving experience. It’s not the sort of thing I normally paint, but I am interested in high streets.
“I worried it might seem a bit voyeuristic and slightly distasteful, but after talking to lots of people there I realised it was a chance to record history.
“If there is any positivity to come out of this it is this quite incredible community spirit Tottenham has.”
Mr Brown is set to display the four paintings as part of a larger exhibition on Britain’s high streets at a show in February.
Details have been released this evening of how to get your share of 4,000 tickets to the exclusive Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration at Alexandra Palace in July.
